Q: Where is the Battle held?
A: At the Creative 360, located at 1517 Bayliss St in Midland, MI.
Q: How many bands will compete?
A: There will be 12 bands competing but only 1 band will win!
Q: How long is the competition?
A: The event will take place all four Saturdays of November.
Q: How long will each band perform?
A: Each band will play a 45 minute set.
Q: How do I register?
A: Complete the entry form on the site.
Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes. If your band is accepted the registration fee is $25.
Q: When is the contest deadline?
A: Registration deadline is Sept. 15th.
Q: Is this competition based solely on ticket sales?
A: No. The first three shows will be decided by the audience and the final round will be scored by a judge’s panel.
Q: Who are the judges?
A: Music professionals, radio staff, journalists, promoters, etc. The panel of judges will be chosen and announced as the event approaches.
Q: What are the age requirements?
A: All bands are eligible to enter the contest regardless of age.
Q: Can two or more people enter together?
A: Yes. Solo artists, bands and collaborative works are all welcome to enter. Multi-member groups that enter together are considered to be a single entry.
Q: I am already on a record label. Can I still enter the Battle of the Bands?
A: Yes. Phoenix Productions Battle of the Bands is not exclusive to emerging talent and we welcome any artist looking to increase their exposure.
Q: What’s the policy on profanity?
A: We do not encourage profanity however; we do support an artist’s freedom of expression. Therefore we allow responsible use of profanity and explicit content.
Q: How do my fans buy tickets for the night I am performing?
A: After your band is accepted and payment is received, you will be given tickets that your fans can buy directly from you.
Q: Do we need to provide our own drum set?
A: Yes. No backline will be provided.
Q: Can we play a cover song?
A: Yes. Performing a cover song has little to no bearing on whether your band advances or not. This is an original music competition and it is suggested that you don’t play covers. How much a cover song would affect a judge is up to that particular judge.
